I’m Juan Guillermo Cortez
When I first started teaching Spanish in Chicago back in 1999, I quickly realized that traditional methods were not enough. Students felt overwhelmed by endless drills or frustrated with complicated grammar explanations. So, I developed a new approach—The Cortez Method—a conversational system designed to make Spanish simple, practical, and effective.
That system soon became the foundation of the largest Spanish school in the Chicago area, with thousands of students successfully learning the language. Today, the Cortez Method is available to anyone, anywhere, who wants to learn Spanish faster and with lasting results.

My Story
I moved from Lima, Peru, to Chicago in 1999. Just two months later, I taught my first Spanish class, and by 2001 I had founded the Spanish Language Center. From the very beginning, I worked on refining a method that would allow students to use Spanish in real life—not just memorize rules.
The Cortez Method grew because it worked. Students became conversational quickly, instructors were trained to teach effectively, and the demand kept growing. Over the years, the method has expanded into books, courses, and now a complete online system so learners worldwide can experience the same success.
